"MY BAGS"

The concept behind "My Bags " is that every child coming into the care system be given a bag containing personal items such as toothpaste Deodarent Etc well as other item our own children take for granted pencil pens etc.

There are many thousands of children in Foster Care kinship care etc.

For these children there is a First Day the day   they are taken from their families for one reason or another, that first day as you can imagine is traumatic enough. Many of these children come with just the clothes on their backs. Others have never owned their own toothbrush.

About five years ago The children coming into care from the Liverpool /Fairfield areas were given these bags some local areas have now picked this up. CDC funding and donations from Foster carers as well as their time, helped make this a success .

This has been a great success with the kids who sadly   sometimes returning   to care, now ask for these bags.

The Foster Parents Support Network is now taking up the challenge to make sure every child coming into care in NSW are given the bags.

And with the help of some organizations this is happening, if you are able to donate   material, goods to go into the bags or money to help purchase items please contact us on fpsn2@bigpond.com or call Sue on 0400 101 807

If your local support group would like to be involved in making or distributing these bags   please let us know.

We would like to acknowledge the following companies and organizations for their contributions.
